TROY, N.Y.--The Tri-City ValleyCats triumphed over the Staten Island Yankees at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Monday night by a score of 3-2. The 'Cats attack was lead by starter David Duncan who went five strong innings, giving up just six hits and one run. The game also served as the debut of Jason Castro, the Houston Astros' first round pick in this year's draft.

ValleyCats first baseman Phil Disher continued to stay hot at the plate with two hits. Third baseman Chris Jackson also chipped in with two hits. On the mound, ValleyCats pitching held the Yankees to only two runs. Duncan departed after five innings and gave way to Jose Duran who pitched two innings, giving up two hits and one run. Kirkland Rivers and Mike Hacker combined to close out the final two innings of the game without allowing a run.

After arriving in Troy this morning, Jason Castro joined the ValleyCats in time for Monday's game. In the eighth inning, the catcher from Stanford made an appearance as a pinch hitter but was intentionally walked.

On Wednesday, the ValleyCats travel to Pennsylvania to take on the State College Spikes.
