TROY, N.Y. - With one swing of the bat, Tri-City ValleyCats outfielder Jon Gaston sent his team and a crowd of 4,178 home with a victory on Saturday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Down by a run in bottom of the ninth inning and with Chris Jackson on first base, Gaston hit a blast off Lowell pitcher Seth Garrison that landed beyond the right field wall. As Gaston touched home plate with the walk-off run, his teammates gathered around him in celebration of a 9-8 victory over the Lowell Spinners. The 'Cats are now riding a three game winning streak.
Jon Gaston wasn't the only ValleyCat with a strong offensive effort. In the bottom of the eighth inning, infielder Mike Diaz hit a three-run double to put the 'Cats ahead 7-6. Outfielder J.B. Shuck also swung a hot bat for Tri-City as he put together two hits, one RBI, and two runs scored on the night. On the mound, Jose Duran picked up the win for the 'Cats after he shut down a Spinners rally in the top of the ninth inning.
On Sunday, the ValleyCats will continue their series with the Lowell Spinners. Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and all their friends will make an appearance as Superheroes Night will be celebrated at "The Joe". Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium Box Office, by calling (518) 629-CATS, or by logging on to www.tcvalleycats.com.
