The Albany Metro Mallers used "Think Pink" night to get back on the winning track against a pesky Glove Cities Colonials 42-22. The rainy, stormy night raised $376 for breast cancer awareness. Thank you to all those who braved the elements to support this cause.
Scott Lawson continued his hot hand, going 16-27 for 317 yards and 4 TD's. Deon Champen again showed why he towers over the rest of the league, catching 6 for 170 yards and a touchdown. Culture Branch, Brian Hahn and CJ Tarver also grabbed Lawson strikes for scores. Tarver electrified the crowd with a 69 yard kickoff return for a TD. Ryan Van Tull scored the final Maller TD on a quarterback keeper in the 4th quarter.
Linebackers Shane Sportman and Alex Brace keyed the defense with a combined 20 tackles on the night. Sportman also intercepted a Nick Shepard pass.
The Mallers go to 3-0 in the Northeastern Football Alliance and 5-1 overall. The Mallers travel to Watertown next week to take on the Revolution (2-2).
