
TROY, N.Y. - A sell-out crowd of 4,719 was on had to watch the Tri-City ValleyCats take on the Staten Island Yankees at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Saturday. Third baseman David Flores led the ValleyCats offense with two home runs but in the end, the 'Cats were edged by the Yankees 4-3.
Shane Wolf took the mound for Tri-City and pitched effectively, allowing three runs and striking out three. Offensively, ValleyCats third baseman David Flores had a notable evening. Flores hit a pair of home runs, one in the fourth inning and one in the bottom of the ninth. The second home run was the first run scored off of Staten Island switch-pitcher Pat Venditte this season. Yankees' third baseman Michael Lyon powered the Staten Island offense with three hits including a double and a triple. Catcher Mitch Abeita also tallied three hits for the Yankees.
